Critique my gear!
Critique my gear!
I got tired of low quality leather cuffs and such... So I made my own! I'm looking for input, or criticism.
I used heavy full grain leather, welded d rings and heavy duty buckles. Everyone does black, so I did brown. Let me know how it looks!
I suppose this is my first post as well. Hi everyone!

Welcome to the boards!
Photobucket is acting up for me, I can't get it to "zoom in", but from the thumbnails, that gear looks like quality work.
Glad to hear you used welded hardware. Some rather pricey leather restraints I bought online are nice in may ways, but the metal hardware is very poor quality, and not welded.

Re: Critique my gear!
Very nicely made - I've seen professional equipment which wasn't as good.
Re: Critique my gear!
Thanks for the welcome!
Photo bucket is terrible, I hope they're showing alright at least.
Cheap hardware drives me nuts. You'd need a large hammer to even deform these. Ive popped off those fragile silver rivets so commonly used too many times, so I went with solid copper hand peened rivets and burrs. They're not coming out, ever.
I do pretty heavy duty paddles too.

That's some classy looking leatherware. Very very nice.
Re: Critique my gear!
Thank you!
I added the paddle, but I'm not too proud of that one. Fairly basic, but it works!

Ankle cuffs! Always fun.

Re: Critique my gear!
good quality looking leather restraints, but in my experience the welded steel ring is not so good, I had one that fractured across the weld and trapped me for a long time, I now use a continuous cast ring.
Re: Critique my gear!
The weld broke and that trapped you? I'm confused on how that worked out. Usually the unwelded rings break and you're loose.
That's unfortunate, but these are strong enough to hang a person. Hopefully there will be no issues.

I love those cuffs!
Only way I could see to make them more stylish would be to have the black leather all the way across to contrast the brown and edge stitch it. Then have a rivet each side of the D etc for strength.
Very nice work.

Check lanad's "A true story in detail" in Author's Corner. A very elaborate and well thought out session- quite a mind bender. And yes, a broken ring would usually be an instant release- unless a chain snags on it!!One Pivot wrote:The weld broke and that trapped you? I'm confused on how that worked out. As for those cuffs- they appear very well made and I like that two color idea!
Re: Critique my gear!
Thank you Franzia for answering, saved me the bother of typing an answer lol. and thank you again for the plug on my story.
If I had used rope it would have still snagged.

Lanad, that story was pretty intense! I'll consider solids for another toy at some point.
Mully, thanks for the input. I think full stitching on the strap would look great, and I'm definitely doing the next one like that.
Here's another finished set, one color and full strap. They're sold, so too late to stitch it, but I was pretty happy with them. Some kinda classy meets slutty theme!

Is it against the rules to post a link for my stuff for sale?

Re: Critique my gear!
Is the insides lined with suede or something softer? My cuffs (all 5) were made by an saddler so they can be a bit rough and sometimes I think some newer softer one might be nice.
Re: Critique my gear!
Im not much of a suede fan, but I do line my cuffs with a nice soft full grain leather. Its smooth instead of coarse or furry. The inside feels like how a nice leather handbag feels on the outside.

I meant more like a signature tag. If that's the hard rule, so be it, but I'm not sure if that includes signatures.
I'm spending the weekend working on mullys suggestion! Full stitching sounds great.

Re: Critique my gear!
I looked through the "Media Share" thread where typically those who have sites selling bondage
videos post. One has "Visit my site: <insert site here>" as their signature.
I would venture to say a PM to a Mod may be in order if a reply isn't met here "soon'ish" If need
be maybe they can get in touch with GU (gaggedutopia).
All the best,

A signature link is a great way to promote your site and very acceptable
