breathing in a plaster cast

How is it possible to breath in a plaster or fibreglass casting ? - does it prevent movement of the chest and abdomen ?
Thanks, Paul

I believe the rapper tells the rappee to take a deep breath and hold it as the chest is being encased. Would really like to be the rappee one day!

The expanding of the chest is only one part of the breathig process...
The other is the movement of the diaphram down into the belly area...
You won't be able to breath deeply, but you will be able to breath somewhat...
Just don't panic!!!
All advice is checked, re-checked and verified to be questionable...
Don't ask, we both wont understand the answer...

If people are that worried about breathing, they can also wrap in stages:

"Take a deep breath and hold it." *wrap wrap wrap, stop* "Exhale. Okay, another deep breath." *wrap wrap wrap, stop*

That way the wrapping/cast/whatever might be a bit loose, but won't obstruct breathing, either. My kinky ex-girlfriend used to do it that way when she would wrap me in plastic and tape, then leave me like that for HOURS while she did "vanilla stuff" around the house -- mmmmmm!. :D

Thanks for the opinions - those plus photos of people being plaster cast are encouraging :)

Putting adequate padding beneath the fiberglass will help breathing stay possible. Be careful around the neck and face and you should be fine.

Remember DON'T PANIC!

Yes padding will help and make cutting out easier too. The sensible thing is limited trials then building up.

A cast is never so tight as to prevent you from breathing. But you might not be able to take very deep breaths.
