Best name for a maid?

Unread post by restricted »

List of names for a maid. Will need to get it down to two names and the choice will be put to the people.

My missus is ill and I need to chill out as I do all the housework, cooking and looking after her tablets and changing her pads as required. During the latter I am nurse Nancy. I find by dressing accordingly, I don't get so stressed out.

As she keeps finding me work, I will introduce her to Maid (?) suitably dressed and if caught by others and ready to shock and hopefully give them a laugh. I won't get changed until the housework is done.

Maybe a maid should be called by the surname.

No, the maid is always addressed by her first name, this reminds her of her place, lower down the pecking order. A housekeeper is addressed as Mrs Bridges as is the butler, eg: Hudson. The latter two are the inbetweens between the menial staff and those "Upstairs" and thus given the illusion of higher places. You can probably guess where I got my inspiration for this info.... Showing my age having seen the programme the first time round!

You can take a choice of three names, and change your mind. I said a week, but if there is no response then I will close it early. I want to introduce her new maid to her as soon as possible. I will ignore her if she calls me by my own name.

Last night in her sleep she kept calling out Maud which was her mothers middle name. I wonder if that would help her memory and make her relax over my position. ;)

Maud:
If it works for her and you, why not; It sounds like a nice name.

I've corresponded with an Alice and a Jenny, and would be happy to dress for either of them.
Maud is a lovely name. Shall we, too, call you by that name?

I have decided on Emily Maud. I will put it to her that the last one is in memory of her mother and any chastising should be done by using both names. The uniforms have not turned up yet.

I don't want to change the name. I'm used to Restricted here. I could try and use the computer to help her brain. If I can get her to put things on here, I will sign up as Emily Maud for her and she can tell you if she enjoys it or not.
