I agree leather cuffs are much more comfortable for long term wear and don't mark the skin as much as steel cuffs, but it is always in the back of my mind that they can be cut off, even when locked.

There is a slot that the back of the key goes into in a manner very similar to S&W Model 100.
The Tower handcuffs in my photo do double lock through the keyhole.
Very early Peerless 1912 handcuffs also double lock via the keyhole while later ones use the plunger that is pretty much standard today.
