I have noted also ( as compared to lets say 2 years ago) that it is very very slow...
I am new and should not bitch, but the Admin is still treating this forum as it had thousands of visitors per day. Manually moderating posts, not allowing pictures, clips and gifs.
With all of the social media action, all forums are slowing down. Members should be encouraged to post and not be discouraged....Just my two bits ;)

Yep, you're new, and as for manually moderating posts, only the first few, once you've "proved" you're not a spammer, and there have been floods of those at times, post away.
Again, images, perhaps it's a newbie issue, once you are past that needing initial moderation, you should be able to upload attachments (ie: add images).

I do not know what version of the software the forum is running, perhaps it is due for an update, but that's not our call really.

It's nothing to do with the moderation of the forum. All the forums I have experience of are going through a slow and gradual decline as new people into the fetish are more ready to engage in their niches with like-minded souls over social media like twitter / Reddit (used to be Facebook, Tumbler and Instagram too until they banned adult completely).

I think this forum is run well and the admins are doing their best. Maybe they could create a twitter page and use that in conjunction with this or perhaps change the format to Joomla (also a bit outdated) or some other new cms style site but that all takes time and the necessary technical know-how to transfer/integrate this place with any new system.

I guess if members want change, they need to communicate what they want to see different, be specific and in a positive, constructive way. I don't think the speed of post approval will affect a forums useability one way or another, so what you have to have the first 5 posts approved, it will get done and will get done in a timely fashion.

my 2 cents..

Critical Mass

Unread post by Stahlketten »

I think there is a little more to it.
I myself go poking around quite a few threads just out of curiosity, but to be honest, there aren't that many that I find really engaging to the point that I would post. Some of it is a lack of experience in that particular kink and some is just a lack of a real interest.
My guess is that there are probably only about half a dozen people here with very similar interests to mine and as we all know in regular social life, when there are that few people that are potentially in a discussion, and geography and other real life factors also get in the way, sustaining a conversation isn't easy.
We do see little bursts of activity as critical mass is exceeded for a short time, but it usually goes in a direction that quickly loses a few of the participants and the conversation dies.
I believe the population here needs to be considerably larger to be able to support continuous traffic.

There are a number of forums ( some more " kinky" then this one) having a lot of traffic and posts. Yes, they are moderated and keep the Chinese viagra pushers and the phoney dating sites out, as well as pirated content, but they allow a wide scale of jpgs, gif and clips. No doubt many are "plugging" their own web sites, but they are allowed as long as they do not overload the system with many posts. I do not want to promote these forums, but if asked, I will give you ( and the admin) a few examples...

While I can understand the idea of discouraging "piracy", there have been quite a few times when I have wanted to include an image for purposes of illustration even though I don't own the image. Generally the result is that it wasn't worth posting a reply without the illustration.
Although it is possible to post links, often the links become obsolete rather quickly such as on eBay and the post becomes meaningless as a result and of course there is no way that any one of us can own all the really interesting toys out there.

Here is my spin on the "piracy" ...As a web owner and a content producer here are my rules. I believe just about any other content owner will agree with me :

1) Feel free to post any picture and or gif, BUT DO NOT remove the watermark, if there is NO watermark feel free to post the picture anyway but ID the source. This way if some blogger or a forum host posts our pictures/gifs without a watermark we know where to go and request a correction.

2) Ditto on the videos or clips. We allow watermarked clips up to 10 min in length to be shared on various tubes ( and yes we have a person also posting these). This is good for the content owner and also for the forum/blog/tube... it is mutually advantageous.

We vigorously oppose and enforce via legal means such are DMCA filings and Google delisting any web site where the rules 1 and 2 above are not adhered to.

This forum in my opinion is moribund for a simple reason that it still lives in and even before " Obama times", before social media fucked up most forums which did not change with the flow, that being allowing pictures, gifs and clips.

Well, you are entitled to your opinion, and you've certainly expressed it, repeatedly.

Personally I'm not 100% sure what the point is you are trying to make, but I guess you'll soon be telling me. But let's agree to disagree.

Perhaps start posting some of your 10 min clips here, and pics to help generate traffic?

Personally, and as someone who runs sites and forums, I think some here are being a little disingenuous. If you really want this place to succeed, contribute to it. Give media, take requests, do customs, set this as your point of contact within the community, maybe pay for the hosting for a couple of months, do something positive.

I'm not sure I would be entirely happy with people posting content without our consent, watermarked or not, though that's just us.

I am responding to the OP question and other posts. It is ALL about resurrecting this moribund forum without making it a spam or pirate heaven.

It is not possible, since I would be called a spammer and banned
