These Chinese leg irons I believe are the authentic item before they became popular as toys and were very hard to get. I picked up a set at a gun show for fairly cheap because the owner probably had taken it as part of a deal and had no real use for it. I picked up a second set a while later. Both use pin tumbler locks and the finish is "military" with thick paint over strong but not so clean welds. The two sets do not use the same key.
On the second set, I figured as sharp as the edges were and as scratchy as the weld splatter was, it was too easy to get hurt using them., so I took a file and knocked off any sharp edges.
They now make nicer looking sets with a more complex lock and better finish and what looks like a furniture leg end to cover the keyhole. Seems like recreational use has affected manufacture. I wonder if the actual prison versions are improved as well.

Re: Chained in Leg Irons
Am currently wearing a set of Chinese prison leg irons. Very heavy and quite secure. I really would like to have a set of the more modern version but can’t really justify the cost.

Re: Chained in Leg Irons
Here I am again in the same set of Chinese prison leg irons. They aren't so bad when sitting on something soft like a mattress. When I am on a computer, I am sitting on a hardwood floor, so it is pretty hard to find a comfortable position.
My Jailer insisted on putting me in the leg irons before going out to run an errand. I have no idea exactly how long She will be gone but She has the only set of keys, so these leg irons are quite secure.

Seems like my Jailer is really starting to like using these Chinese leg irons on me. She is now asking for them specifically when she wants me locked up but not completely prevented from doing anything.

Re: Chained in Leg Irons
My Jailer put me in a matching set of Handcuffs and Leg Irons with Hamburg-8 style locks.
They look fairly simply and probably would be if there were a lot of tools handy but in the situation She had me, they were quite secure and escape proof. What is interesting about this set of jewelry is that all the cuffs can be opened with the same key. I believe they are made of chrome plated brass which makes they quite heavy. Brass is heavier than steel in the same thickness.

Yes, the workmanship of the actual prison version leg irons has also been improved.Stahlketten wrote: ↑21 Mar 2025, 06:20 These Chinese leg irons I believe are the authentic item before they became popular as toys and were very hard to get. Re: Chained in Leg Irons
At this point, I can't really justify the cost of getting another set of the Chinese leg irons. Their finish still looks a bit industrial and not really that good. I have already cleaned up all the weld spatter and sharp edges from one of the sets that I have, so all that is really wrong with them now is just a bit of missing black paint. Even where I wasn't doing any filing, the original paint was not that durable.

Sooner or later, the paint on Chinese leg irons will peel off. Mine has already peeled off quite badly. This is almost inevitable unless you never use them.Stahlketten wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025, 06:02 At this point, I can't really justify the cost of getting another set of the Chinese leg irons. I need to find some touch gloss touch up paint to cover the filed down spots and other spots where the paint has chipped.
